Junior Sides Elated with Inflatable Goals

Steve Foster, who played for England in 1982 World Cup finals, has lent his backing to an innovation which is taking football by storm. He has seen IGOAL in action and believes it can only be good for the game.

He said “The IGOAL allows football to be a truly mobile game now – the days of coats for goals are long gone. These goals will revolutionise the game at every level. I am hugely impressed with all the safety aspects and the goals fit into a car boot – what a bonus!”

Foster, who now runs Pro-Secure which insures professional footballers and every player in Sussex added: “With delivery through Sussex FA in partnership with Redeye Sports, the football requirements for Sussex are being well served by Ken Benham and the team at SCFA”

However, it does not stop there. Two junior football teams in Sussex are celebrating after hitting the back of the net. The Sussex Argus had two goals to give away thanks to Redeye Sports. The judges had an incredibly tough decision sifting through the many clubs and schools who had entered – they had all written to tell the Argus why their club or school deserved to win!

One winner was Meridian Athletic Football Club – their story appealed as once a big noise in youth circles the club hand gone into decline and by 2005 only had four teams left. A few dedicated volunteers did not want the club to be lost and in the last two years they have built it back to a stage where they have 8 teams, each with their own sponsors for kit and rain jackets. They have also raised funds to send every coach on a FA level one training course, have CRB checked all their volunteers and have attained FA Charter Status.

Sompting and Thistle were chosen as a winner for different reasons. The team only started in the summer and although they have been trying to raise funds through sponsored walks they have had to borrow goals from another team in order to continue. To go with their entry, one of their players, nine year old Ben Moran, wrote a poem about his team.

There were plenty of other worthy winners but do not despair if you did not win because the Argus have another four goals to give away before Christmas.
